Nirbhaya : The Mirror of Our Society

Nirbhaya : The Mirror of Our Society-
Disaster of Humanity

We are living in the 21st century and feel proud to be an Indian the biggest democracy of the world. We are pursuing the developed countries in the prospects of physical development of our country. We are competing with them in the field of technology, resources and infrastructure kind of parameters. But do we really deserve to stand with them anywhere as per the quality of our lifestyle, in which society we are living today.

Do we feel safe when we sleep, awake in our homes and go on the roads, or send our children to school?  Do our women really compete with the men in the society and walk side by side with them in society. Or we are living in the deception of being civilized in the curtains of fashionable panorama. All the questions strike in our mind, when we realize the daily encounters of life.

Nirbhaya case raised the questions upon us. And compel ourselves to think over it. It is the eye opening for all of the civilized citizens of this country. When we are playing our roles to be modernised and being advanced with the time and the race of the entire world. Then such cases shake our foundation. Nirbhaya case which has shocked not only our nation, but the entire world by showing the reality of humanity. It makes us ashamed to be human beings, where gender attack has become the curse of our society.

These kinds of cases are published in the newspaper or in the media every other day. But all people sitting in the power positions are unable to stop them being handicapped in the name of their own self means.  Our government can handle the terrorists, traitors, thieves, dacoits and major international issues. Even it can handle the underworld dons, but in the name of crime against women the government becomes helpless despite being all the power in hand.

The reason behind such cases is such a critical issue which lies in our society and communities, where we have been taught from our childhood that men are better than women. This seed of discrimination in our society is older, more than centuries, which lies in our culture, rituals and perception of every mind.

When the boy born, people feel happy and satisfied no matter what he will be in his life when get older. But when the girl is born, they have one worry in their mind about how she will get married when they become adolescents. The other reason is the difference between rural and urban societies, which is the major reason for such  cases.

As we all know 70% of India has a rural area, and major part of the population comes from these areas and mixes with the urban societies who come from the small villages in search of employment in big metro cities. If we take a look at the rural societies they still have a very backward mental state, regressive approach and male dominating societies, after being modernized on the basis of luxuries and comforts on the monetary basis. Women in rural areas still stay under veils and work in a clumsy manner. They follow the traditional practices. While in metro cities women live in a modern, glamorous and free outlook, which is the part of interest for the men who come from the rural societies. And that's why they justified themselves to be lusty on the basis of clothes women wear in the city’s culture.

And on the other way conservatism and orthodox is in the blood of our society, no matter how much we pretend to be modern but when we behave, it reflects in our actions and perceptions. The cities are quite influenced by western culture while people coming from rural areas are not meant to assimilate this cultural difference in our society. Their lack of education and civic sense formed their perverted mind, distorted thinking and criminal tendency in them.

The other reason is there is no fear of law and system in their mind. And even they are not God fearing because of not getting any religious and moral lessons in life. They see the woman's body as so much of curiosity like they are not from this planet or a habitant of some other planet. Because there is no any kind of sex education and body education being provided to them in their childhood. And they feel women as an object of enjoyment. They are unable to associate themselves with the women as a person or a real human being.

They never get the environment to be part of good communities and societies, where they can learn some manners to behave themselves. Most of them come from labor class or blue collar job employees, who have a dangerous kind of attitude towards women. Even if they are from the cities, there are some evil elements hidden in their mind towards women, which comes out in the form of exploiting women in many ways in the work area or domestic environment.

The other major reason is the influence of cinema and the internet, where watching adult content has become so easy even children can easily access them, which creates a sick mentality and psychologically corrupt their mind. And in Indian movies love making scenes has always become a part of the entertainment, which makes the seducing an interest of the younger generation.

Thereafter, the final reason as we all are seeing today in the loopholes of our judiciary system, where escaping from the punishment is so easy in the name of human rights even after committing such heinous crimes. After getting all the evidence and proving these criminals to be convicted, they have options to escape and stay safe.

The issue is psychological, which is deeply rooted in man’s mind. Overall, if we see the core of the subject the issue lies in our cultural system which comes in the form of criminality towards the female gender which is the other part of their own selves. As Men and Women are the part of the same entity.

Like Ardha Narishwara, Lord Shiva and Parvati, The men born from women and women born from men, who can imagine the world without other gender. The conclusion is the understanding of simple fundamentals of nature is not easy for men because they are born with the false pride of manhood. The scenario behind the structure of the society was prejudiced since the human kind was born and up to coming this era, it took its gruesome form which had been reflected in cases like Nirbhaya.

Nirbhaya case frightened every woman like making her sense that I may also be the next at her place tomorrow. I am still afraid to see buses today. Because that dark night comes into my mind with the whole terrible picture. No woman can even think in a dream of such brutality with her. These crimes compel us to think over who gave men the right to decide our clothes, lifestyle and destiny.

So there is a need to reform our society, culture, traditions and manipulations. Seek the knowledge of humankind, which is genuine, authentic, scientific and practical, not only on the basis of shallow face of society decide the rules to govern the society. Don’t presume to be world only from your eyes.It is a home for entire living beings created by God.

Keep it safe, clean, beautiful and peaceful as the paradise. Live and let live others.

In the end my heartiest prayers are for Nirbhaya and her family.
May her soul rest in peace and get justice as soon as possible

And the criminals get the right punishment for their actions.
